Venter signed with Chicago ahead of the 2024 Major League Rugby season after cutting his teeth with the Free State Cheetahs in South Africa’s Currie Cup.

As a rookie in 2024, Venter appeared in 10 games, including one start, and played 214 minutes. The promising South African prospect combined with hooker Dylan Fawsitt to create one of the best offensive hooker tandems in the league. Venter scored three tries for 15 points on 21 carries, gaining 112 meters and beating five defenders. Defensively, the hooker completed 45 of his 48 tackle attempts.
